ibiza - when the music is over and the crowd is thin

The famed party destination, Ibiza, where thousands of clubbers converge onto its white sandy beaches in the summer. But the island has a different facade in the winter, reducing into a vacuated ghost town, and showcasing its natural beauty and tranquility.

We stayed in the countryside of Ibiza, having no postal address or proper road to enter. Therefore we had to rent a car in order to make our way around.

After renting the car, we drove towards the town of Sant Antoni de Portmany, home of the Cafe Del Mar.

After futilely searching for somewhere to relax, we headed back to the town of Sant Josep de sa Talaia to see Playa d'en Bossa, the main beach with the biggest parties, like Space, and Bora Bora. However, the beach was completely empty! Walking along the perimeter of the beach, we found this bar Sirocco which was open, and went in to get some drinks.

The next day, we got up late in the morning, and headed down to Cala Jondal for our lunch. Beside the Blue Marlin was the beach bar Yemanja, which prided itself on being open all 365 days a year.

Still closed, not open for business yet

After waiting for awhile, the shop was finally open for business. We ordered some paella and mojitos.

The sun finally emerged from the clouds and we began to head outside to bask in some much needed sunlight.

Initially we wanted to watch the sun set, but Weichung decided that it was a waste of time to be sitting at a place for the whole day, hence we headed towards the town of Eivissa.

We went into the upper part of the town, known as Dalt Vila. It seems like a fortress, perhaps to defend Spain from naval assaults.

Ibiza is a really beautiful place, especially at Cala Jondal. This will probably be ranked as my 'numero uno' destination for a chill-out vacation.
